Chilipad Pad Not Cooling/Heating Properly
If your Chilipad isn't functioning as expected—whether it won't cool or heat properly—follow these steps to identify and resolve the issue. Issues can often stem from bad connections or blockages in the system.

Check Connections
- Disconnect the hosing: Unplug the hosing from both the Control Unit and the Chilipad.
Inspect for Kinks
- Feel Along the hosing: Carefully feel along the hosing of the pad for any hidden kinks. Kinks may not be visible but can significantly affect performance.
Reconnect and Test
- Reconnect the Unit: Plug the hosing back into the Control Unit and the Chilipad.
- Turn on the Unit: Set the Chilipad to "HI" for one hour.
- Check Temperature: Feel the pad to check if warmth is reaching it. Switch to "LO" to check for coolness.
Swap Units (If Applicable)
- Testing with Another Unit: If you have a dual (WE) system, try swapping the Control Unit in question with the other Control Unit . Observe if the issue follows the Control Unit or stays with the pad.
Additional Considerations
Ambient Room Temperature
- Remember that the pad's performance can be affected by the ambient room temperature and your body mass. For enhanced insulation, consider using a dense blanket or comforter over the pad while sleeping.
Adjusting Target Setpoints
- If changing your target setpoint doesn’t rectify the issue, consider the following adjustment:
- Pre-Cool Your Bed: Turn on the Control Unit about 20 minutes before bedtime to allow the entire bed to cool down adequately.
Checking Control Unit & Pad Functionality
- Ensure Full Reservoir: Check that the Control Unit's water reservoir is filled.
- Inspect hosing: Verify there are no kinks in the hosing.
- Reconnect the Pad: Disconnect the Hydronic Pad from the Control Unit and then reconnect it.
- Factory Reset: If issues persist, perform a factory reset on the Control Unit.
Understanding Temperature Discrepancies
- Note that the temperature in your mattress pad may differ from the water temperature in the Control Unit. Set the temperature on your Control Unit to a few degrees colder/hotter than your desired temperature to compensate for heat transfer as the water circulates through the pad.
