Understanding the Blinking '888' on Your Chilipad Cube: Communication Issue.
Table of Contents
If you see a blinking "888" on your Chilipad Cube display, don’t worry—this usually just means there’s a communication hiccup between the control unit and the remote.
Try the following to correct the issue.

Check for Remote Battery:
- If you’re trying to power on the Cube with the remote and it’s not responding, double-check those batteries. Fresh batteries can do wonders!
Syncing the Cube and Remote:
- Plug in the Cube.
- Reset the Cube: Press and hold the "ON/OFF" button on the Cube for about 5 seconds until you see the "888" blinking on the display.
- Power Up the Remote: Turn on your remote control. If everything is working correctly, you should see the actual temperature on the Cube display.
Power Cycle and Reset:
- Turn Off the Cube: Switch it off and unplug it from the wall.
- Wait it Out: Let it sit for about 15 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again.
Checking Water Level and Reservoir:
- Water Level: Make sure your Cube is filled with distilled water up to the bottom of the threads.
- Secure the Cap: Check that the reservoir cap is tightly screwed in to prevent any leaks.
Check for Kinks or Blockages in Tubing:
- Disconnect the Tubing: Carefully detach the tubing from both the Cube and your pad.
- Feel for Kinks: Run your fingers along the tubing to check for any kinks or blockages.
- Reconnect: If you find a kink, disconnect it from both ends, straighten it out, and then reconnect it properly.
Internal Reset:
- If you’re still having issues, unplug the unit again and double-check that the reservoir cap is securely fastened before plugging it back in.
